What Are Ocean Monuments?

Ocean Monuments (also called Guardians Temples) are large underwater structures made of prismarine that generate in deep ocean biomes. They are guarded by Guardians and 3 Elder Guardians, and contain valuable blocks like sponge, prismarine, sea lanterns, and gold blocks.

Monument Features

• Size: 58×58 blocks — one of the largest structures in Minecraft
• Elder Guardians: 3 Elder Guardians per monument — they inflict Mining Fatigue III
• Sponge Room: Contains up to 30 wet sponges — essential for draining water
• Gold Block Core: 8 gold blocks hidden behind dark prismarine in the center room
• Prismarine: Harvested for prismarine bricks, dark prismarine, and sea lanterns

Building a Guardian Farm

• Location: Use this tool to find the nearest monument to your base
• Draining: Clear a large area around the monument using sponges or sand
• Kill Chamber: Build a collection system under the monument for guardian drops
• AFK Spot: Position yourself 24-128 blocks from the spawning areas
• Drops: Guardians drop prismarine shards, crystals, fish, and rarely sea lanterns

Tips for Raiding Monuments

• Bring a full set of armor with Respiration III and Depth Strider III
• Defeat all 3 Elder Guardians first to remove Mining Fatigue
• Use milk buckets to clear Mining Fatigue in emergencies
• Night Vision potions make navigation much easier
• Watch for guardians' laser attack — hide behind blocks to avoid damage
