The rarest biome in the game. Island biomes surrounded by ocean where no hostile mobs spawn naturally. Features mycelium instead of grass, mooshrooms, and giant mushrooms. Perfect for safe bases.
Extremely RareA beautiful pink biome added in 1.20 featuring cherry blossom trees with falling petals. Found in mountainous terrain at moderate elevations. Great for building scenic bases.
Uncommon1.20+Dense tropical biome with tall trees, bamboo, parrots, ocelots, and jungle temples. The bamboo jungle variant is important for finding pandas. Relatively rare in world generation.
UncommonColorful biome with terracotta layers, red sand, and exposed gold ore above ground. Mineshafts can generate at the surface here. Contains wooded badlands and eroded badlands variants.
RareWarm swamp variant added in 1.19 with mangrove trees and mud blocks. Features frogs, warm frog spawn, and unique wood type. Found in tropical areas near deserts and jungles.
Uncommon1.19+A mysterious, eerie forest biome added in 1.21.4 with pale oak trees and pale moss. Features creaking hearts and a uniquely atmospheric environment. Found in place of some dark forests.
Uncommon1.21.4+Underground biome with glow berries, azalea trees, moss, dripleaf plants, and axolotls. Identified on the surface by azalea trees growing above them. Rich in unique flora.
UncommonUndergroundUnderground biome featuring stalactites, stalagmites, and pointed dripstone. Useful for renewable lava source farms when dripstone is placed under lava source blocks.
CommonUndergroundThe deepest biome in the game (Y level -51 and below). Contains sculk blocks and Ancient Cities. The only biome where the Warden can spawn, triggered by sculk shriekers.
RareUndergroundThe classic Nether biome with netherrack terrain, lava seas, ghasts, and zombie piglins. Nether Fortresses commonly generate here. Contains nether quartz and gold ore.
CommonA dense red forest with crimson fungi, weeping vines, hoglins, and piglins. One of the safer Nether biomes as ghasts don't spawn here. Source of crimson wood and shroomlights.
CommonA teal-colored forest with warped fungi, twisting vines, and endermen. The safest Nether biome β no hostile mobs spawn naturally. Source of warped wood and shroomlights.
CommonEerie biome filled with soul sand, soul soil, basalt pillars, and nether fossils. Features blue soul fire, ghasts, and skeletons. Striders spawn in lava within this biome.
CommonRocky, volcanic biome with basalt columns, blackstone, and magma cubes. Difficult to traverse due to irregular terrain. Source of basalt and blackstone building materials.
